PowerBook 5300, OS 8.1. I just bought two Apple brand batteries sold as new from MegaMacs. Started using one. Charged it for 24+ hours, after which it only ran for about 15 minutes until the system shut down (not sleeping first). I then ran Apple Battery Recondition. After the full cycle, it ran longer, although I didn't measure it--but with the meter reading 1:15 (one hour fifteen minutes) remaining, the system shut down immediately after the warning dialog box. I then ran Battery Amnesia. Upon reboot, MyBattery read that there was a charge of 41% on the battery. Is this a bad battery? I'm guessing the answer is yes...
I'd add that with my old battery, the system does not shut down immediately upon presenting the warning about going on reserve power--it goes to sleep about 5 minutes later. With this one the system abruptly shuts down. -- _______________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
