Do you know that the SCSI port works? (you've hooked up a SCSI peripheral lately and it worked fine?) The install steps are pretty simple IIRC: -turn off computer -put the adapter on, hook up it's power source (you do know the micro EN/SC gets power from a little cable that runs to the ADB port, right? and the other models have a wall wart of some sort- in other words, if you aren't providing power somehow, it's not going to work! Does the power light on the EN/SC even come on?) -turn on computer -run softare installer -the installer detects which adapter is present, and installs the software for it (it's one installer for multiple types of EN/SC adapter). If the installer doesn't give you a message saying "I found a "XXX" or installing for XXX EN/SC, something's wrong! -reboot, and you're done. On just a few desktop mac models, you have to make sure the ID of an external SCSI device is different from the ID of the internal drive, since the internal SCSI drive and the external devices are on the same bus. I don't know if any SCSI powerbooks are that way or not, but it didn't apply to very many desktop models, and I don'r recall if you're using a powerbook with an internal SCSI drive or not. If your powerbook internal drive is IDE then this doesn't matter. If all of the above is exactly what you are doing, are you sure you are using the right installer software? Perhaps boot with a minimal extension set then run the installer, although I've never had a conflict with the Asante drivers, if you have drivers for another SCSI adapter of any sort installed (didn't Dayna make one?) you might have to remove those. Otherwise, it sounds like you either have a dead SCSI port or a dead micro EN/SC. Perhaps get another micro EN/SC from ebay, they should be pretty cheap.
