Hello Listers
Recently my 5300 begins refusing to sound its familiar startup melody. No
matter how many times the Desktop was rebuild/PRAM zapped, it kept
performing a silent boot. This might not be worrying in itself, but programs
now quit without warning, hang-ups sometimes occur at boot time.
I have a 48MB RAM card installed which upped the RAM to 64MB. The first boot
ALWAYS reports a RAM error and then only 56MB is detected by the s/w. A
second boot would make the s/w see the rest of the RAM.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
I cannot believe that the 5300 is at the end of its useful life; I have a
540 which still goes with a bang (at startup).
