I have a 5300cs here that shows what I guess one could call a white
screen the whole time it's booted. I can hear the hard drive working and
I can shut it down by using the power key and the return key. I can make
the screen brighter or dimmer using the controls, but I can't see any
icons. I'm hoping there's a worn PRAM battery as the culprit here, but
am unexperienced at opening up a PowerBook. I am also unfamiliar with
the type of PRAM battery these use. Is it the same 1/2 AA like the
desktop models use? Does this sound like a likely cause, and if so, how
do I proceed. I have the necessary Torx wrenches on hand here to open it
up.
