[EMAIL PROTECTED] gave a good description of what the
invertor board does. As for the invertor from the
190cs... my guess is no, it won't work. If the 5300
and 190 used the same screen, then it might be
possible that they use the same inverter... But you
said you have an Active Matrix screen and the 190CS is
passive matrix, so I doubt the inverters would be the
same.

The inverter could cause the problem you describe...
or it could be a cable problem... Pop the plastic off
of the display and have a look. Check the routing of
the cables and make sure they aren't being stressed
around the hinge and whatnot. Make sure everything is
plugged in tightly. Be careful popping off the screen
plastic if you've never done it before... lots of
hidden clips and you don't want to break any! The
best way to do it is to remove the screws from the
upper case assembly, and then grasp the screen plastic
by placing your thumb on the outside of the plastic,
adn slide your fingers under the edge of the plastic
surronding the screen (on the inside)then push in with
your thumbs and rock back with your fingers until you
release the clips.... do this all the way around the
screen, being careful not to force anything if it
doesn't feel like it's going to go and you should be
able to remove the screen plastic without damaging any
of the clips... Go slow and watch what your doing...
practice makes perfect ;-)

Cheers,
Sionnach
