tried transplanting the ppc chip into a 520c with a 32mb ram card. The 520

Once I seated the ppc chip, upon boot the cpu stops boot halfway through and

says there is a memory problem. I rechecked and the 32mg ram chip indeed

runs fine with the 25 and 33mhz stock chips in all my 4 500 series units,

but paired with the 100mhz unit--no go. If I slip the 100mhz unit back into

the greyscale 520 it will work with the 16mb chip, but not with the 32.

Any ideas as to what gives? Does this card need a special driver I do not

have? A special install? Did the board gas out? I'm stumped. Any help

would be appreciated.

I suspect that the system on the 520c is not the right one for PPC. You will
need to either install a "fat" version of a system (one that will work with b
oth 68xxx and PPC) on that machine before installing the PPC upgrade card or
have an external CD attached that you can boot from and install the PPC
version of a system...I would recommend 8.1.
