Hi did you say thatthe hdd is working in a pc. If so go into dos restart in dos and type fdisk it will then give you options select create/remove logical partition remove it then go bat to the options screen and erase disk info .
Install it in the 5300 with a boot floppy in and boot up it shouldd recognise the disk but ask if you want to erase as it is not a mac disk erase it and install an OS.
