Well, as usual, I'll start out by saying that I have limited knowledge of Mac Powerbooks, but fairly good knowledge of laptop hardware in general after servicing PC based laptops for many years. I hear all of you on the list talk about these software products to drain and recondition your batteries... interesting... it must truly be a Mac thing, as I don't believe I've come in contact with one for a PC Based laptop in all my years of working with them. (This isn't to say they don't exist, they likely do, I've just never seen one and never used one.) As for the problem at hand... the only thing I can immediately think of to try and recondition your battery or to get it working again at all for that matter, would be to start by zapping the PRAM for about 6 times or so... That should also reset the Power Manager. Just to be sure, pop the battery out completely and hold the reset button in for a good 60-90 seconds (just for good measure). -Then, leaving the battery out, fire up off of AC, and once the machine is running, insert the battery and see if it will recognize it. Hopefully reseting the Power Manager will get you through this. And personally, if you want to recondition your batteries, this has been and always will be my recommendation... Run the machine from battery until it is completely dead. Plug it in and charge it until it shows full. Without turning the machine on, remove the battery enough from it's tray that it no longer makes contact and count to 30 (slowly) then push the battery back in place. Again, let the machine charge the battery until it shows a full charge and repeat the process again. Do this about five times, then, start the machine up, run off the battery until it's dead, and do one final full recharge... that should take care of reconditioning your battery. Sorry, I just will never be convinced that battery reconditioning software can do anything for you that you can't do yourslef without it... But then, thats just me :-) The above method has been working for me for years, and I'll keep on using it. Cheers, Sionnach __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
