This stock but beat up eBay "Parts" 520c has 12MB RAM and is running OS 7.1.2 on a 170 MB Apple IBM drive.
I use it mostly as a test bed & conditioner for RAM & batteries but also word processing. It has a nasty habit of going to sleep any time it feels like it but mostly when opening things. Open a control panel or app. and the screen may go black. Hit any key and it comes back but may immediately go to sleep again, as soon as everything is properly displayed on the screen. Setting the sleep control to never, has no effect. It will do this when booting from a disk tools floppy as well as the hard drive, so I don't think it's a software problem. It also runs the hard drive continuously. It won't ever spin down even when it's put to sleep from the menu. I have reseated the processor card and switched RAM cards to no effect. If it can't be fixed inexpensively, it's no big deal. but I do use it and the narcolepsy is really annoying.
