I just put a 10gig IBM into my little sisters 5300cs and it exhibited the

trouble initializing it.

Ken,

Did it (the 5300cs) address all 10 GB? Or just the first 8 GB?

I'm getting a "new to me" 5300c, and it's coming with the stock 1 GB drive,
which is obviously a little small these days.

I'm thinking of a 10 or 20 GB IBM 40GN, a series which works very well (and
is super quiet) in my Wallstreet.

But, no need to upgrade if the machine (the 5300c) can't address the storage.
