Hi there,

I've just purchased a 540c, and while it came fully-loaded with all the
gagdets it's also come with a password-locked hard drive. No problem, says
the seller, just reformat and you'll be away. Made sense, but in practice
it's causing me hell. Trouble is I can't find a boot disk image on the 'net
that'll help out. The Network Access Disk boots fine but I can't use the
Chooser because the system is locked (and can't be unlocked).

I don't think I can use an external CD drive because I only have one
terminator, not the two you're suppose to use as the 540c doesn't provide
scsi termination itself. The other boot disks (namely the Disk Tools discs)
usually boot up but then display an error stating that it couldn't
create/open the desktop folder.

My other planned option was to rip out the hard drive and put it into my
"test bed" external drive and format it from another machine... but of
course the connectors are completely different. I don't have a SCSI Disk
mode cable either yet, and it will be a few days until I can get into the
city to buy stuff.

I was hoping that someone here could point me in the direction of a working
Network Boot image (or possibly even email me one of their own) as I have
just about run out of ideas.

Cheers, Ben.
