Hi there, Well after a couple of weeks of lying idle the 540c finally got its hard disk erased by some voodoo magic practised by a local Mac guru, and now it's running 8.1 happily.
Today I got the external monitor adapter, plugged in a Blue and White 17" Studio Display with a VGA to DB-15(?) adapter and got 640x480x256c up on screen. However, I can't switch to anything else! There's only the "recommended" choices in its Monitors panel (which doesn't show an "all" option) and the Control Strip doesn't allow any changes either.
