I recently picked up another 5300cs for parts and need to find out a few things.
1) First off, on my working book, what is the voltage on the p-ram battery supposed to be? I'm wondering if this might have something to do with my book shutting down immediately (1/2 sec) after the main battery gives the low power notice? 2) Does anybody know the sizes of the screw holding down the power manager? Or does anybody have one of these they can part with? Even the parts machine I just bought was missing it so I worry that it could work loose even under the drive enclosure. Sadly, the ram was gone on the recent purchase too. But I might have gotten a spare battery. 3) I haven't totally written off getting this second unit working but don't hold out much hope either. Apparently it has never been through the REA whatsoever, so I'm probably looking at either the entire logic board gone, maybe just the AC Adapter plug joints, possible screen gone, or just loose cable. I probably won't push my luck either with Apple since they did such a great job on my main unit. :) X) Another lister here apparently has the same identical white (light grey on mine) screen problem as this one does. So we will soon post a joint request for ideas on what might cause this. Machines seem to boot just fine. We're going to collaborate a bit further further and compare symptoms, and then pose them formally to you helpful souls. So don't bother responding to this final Q yet until we narrow down the issues. Thanks all in advance, Dave 5300cs -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
