What we do for customers is offer this service for a mere $25 plus shipping. While doing this we will totally overhaul the unit- examine all plastic parts and tighten/replace where necessary. We do charge for the plastics that are replaced, at very reasonable prices considering the units fully refurbished sell for $125-145. We find that as these units get older, the plastic becomes brittle and cracks along edges. That and careless/ inexperienced homebody repairs account for the worst damage we see normally. We'll buy pallets of them at gov't and surplus auctions where the things have been trashed, beaten up and the hinges broken as well. Have a good one. BTW, long live the 540C....
