Does anyone know of a good source for these things? I'm looking for one that will fit in the PB 5300 "media" bay... I have a couple extra small HDs I'd like to slap into one.
I took apart a spare 5300 floppy, thinking I could somehow attach the included 90pin IDE connector (which should be 100% pin compatible - if you have the correct pin-out - with 44pin ATA laptop hard drives) for the media bay to a laptop hard drive cable, thus making a sort of franken-xcaret out of a gutted floppy module. Well, the IDE connector in the floppy module is easy enough to get to, but the solder points are just a little too small for my current skill level ;-) So I'm looking for discarded Xcaret cases (or just about any IDE device that would fit in the 5300 expansion bay such as Zips, LS120s, MO drives, etc). Anyone know of a good source? I'm kinda disappointed with the swap-list. Been there looking for a few other things, but haven't had much success.... Speaking of "other things..." ;-) I also need a working 5300/cs/c/ce display (full display assembly, plastics and all) or the data cables for a Hosiden CS display or Sharp FSTN greyscale display. Anyone gots? ;-) Or can anyone recommend a good source? Finally, I just got 2 of those sharp greyscale displays w/ plastics, clutches and all (but the data cables are both almost entirely shorn through where the cable connects to the mobo). The screw sockets behind the name plates are broken - is that the result of flex in the display (previously covered under REA) or is it due to poor handling by the previous owner? My 5300cs doesn't have any REA probs except for a loose power receptacle, so I've never seen this before. Er... I guess that was a little long for two short questions... Sorry. Well, let me know if you guys know anything about sources for expansion bay or display kit! Peace out!
