Hello all! I've been trying to get OS 8.1 running on my PB 190cs so as to not burn space on my newly-installed 4 GB drive. However, all attempts have met with failure. Not even the minimal-install version of 8.1 will run properly.
My questions are, then: 1) Has anyone here successfully gotten 8.1 running on an '040 laptop? If so, what does it take? 2) How much RAM does 8.1 need? If close to 24 MBs, that could be the problem. 3) I seem to recall having seen third-party reformatters that let you use a pseudo-HFS+ on systems lower than 8.1. Am I dreaming here? If not, how well do they work? Thanks, Jesse -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
