One option is to use a motorcycle battery, and use an auto adaptor to run
your PB from it...

I helped some missionaries in C. America once, using a similar system. We
set them up with sealed motorcycle batteries. It's also easy to get
snowmobile or ski-doo batt's, as they're generally sealed/marine batteries..

We made a smalll adaptor from allligator clips (clip onto the battery
terminals), with a cigarette lighter plug on the other end. THen you need
only plug in a standard auto adaptor for the Powerbook, and it'll run most
all day long.. We did this on 2 systems and found it to be quite effective,
except for the thought of lugging a battery around.

However, a motorcycle battery is about the size of 4 of the 3400 batteries,
fi you stack them side-by-side.. SO it's not that big, and you'll get some
serious long-term use....

Thanks,
David
