Heck, so long as you're driving into the site and not hiking, get a deep 
discharge 12V battery, like for marine or RV use, one of the 5W chargers 
above and you'ld probably be able to run the laptop indefinitely, and 
have leftover power. The whole kit would probably be mountable in a 
small wooden box and not weigh more than 50 lbs or so, depending on how 
heavy the battery is.

Just charge it up before you go into the boonies, and you're set.

If you're hiking in I'd stick to a motorcycle or snowmobile battery...
