Well there's your problem. The specific installers, particularly when installing PPC specifics on a 68k, are prone to problems. You'll need a full retail, non-spefic OS 8.0 or 8.1 disc for it to work properly. It's installing various PPC code expecting to be run on a Beige G3. You could perhaps try one of the PPC code strippers, but it may well strip out something that breaks it. A standard install disc should fix your problems.
