I have been successfully making 1X burns from the powerbook with Toast 5.1.4 with this burner, the "only" issue is that for some reason the Toast 5 progress doesn't update on the 1400, it always says "preparing" even though it's actually burning. I've not emailed Roxio about this yet. Well OK there's another issue, even though my desktop mac with 9.1 and the Apple CD extensions will read data CDs fine from the Yamaha drive, the powerbook locks up after the CD spins up. Since I didn't need FWB Cd tools or anything on my desktop, I didn't think I'd need it on the laptop.... Thanks for the info on the SCSI manager, that's good to know. It likely explains some of the other SCSI weirdness (as compared to my desktops, which always behave with my peripherals). If my only experiences had been with PB SCSI, I think I would hate the protocol. Brian -- -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
