If I plug a monitor into the external video port and fire up the
powerbook, will it mirror what is supposed to be on the built-in
display or not?

My 5300cs has a dead LCD display, and I was hoping to set it up w/ a
monitor on my desktop until I can replace the data ribbon for the LCD.

If you have a second monitor, you will have a choice if mirroring or a second
display, IIRC.

If your LCD is defective ... or if it has been removed ... the external video
will become your primary display.

I've seen PBs with no display at all (hinges failed, etc) being used with an
external monitor.
