Any PB3400 enet or enet/modem card will work in your 3400's PCI slot. >From page 33 of the 3400's devnote:
"Most congurations of the PowerBook 3400 computer come with an ethernet interface installed in the PCI expansion slot. Two types of card are used, one with an ethernet interface and a modem, the other with ethernet only. Both cards have an RJ-45 connector that is accessible through an opening in the back of the computers case." For a PC card ethernet nic, I'd buy one of these 3COM cards and use it with a hacked* Farallon driver. At $8 (+ S/H) for a PCCard ethernet nic, it's a terrific deal. "3COM PCMCIA 10BASE-T ETHERLINK CARD 3C589C/D" <http://www.computer-show.com/Modern/itemdesc.asp?ic=NET008&tpc=> and CK was nice enough to post a hacked driver here: <http://www.floodgap.com/retrotech/mac/enet3c589/> * Hacked driver needed (as explained at CK's page above) because 3com has _no_ driver of their own for the 3c589 series. As Farallon's card is a rebadged 3c589 with custom firmware it's a trivial hack to modify the Farallon driver to recognize and support the 3com card.
