Hi folks,

So that 190 case bottom w/ mobo I bought a (long) while back came w/ a
500MB hard disk. Since the 190 is dead, I never got around to testing
the HD to see if it works. Today, I swapped it w/ my 1.1GB in my
5300ce to install Linux.

Well, imagine my surprise and consternation when I'm presented w/ a
log in screen for Norton DiskLock!

I can't find any way to get around it. Booting from floppy doesn't
work, booting from external SCSI drives doesn't work. Even SCSI disk
mode doesn't work.

No matter what I do, if the protected disk is connected when I turn on
the 'book, I get the same log in screen. I foolishly tried connecting
the disk _after_ the boot started from the floppy, and that lets me
boot to the desktop. But i can't reformat the disk (Disk Setup won't
see it!).

I don't want to waste 500MB. Does anyone have any idea how to format
this disk? I don't care about the data on it, I just want to install
Linux! ;-)

I can't think of anything short of putting it in a PC, but I don't
have any PCs that will take the 2.5" IDE disk.

Peace,
Drew
