If anyone is interested I have found the developer manual for the 1400c/cs on the Apple developer site, I can send this to anyone who is interested (1Mb PDF file) it has lots of hardware info, ie pinouts of all connectors internal and external and descriptions of the different chip functions, also reading between the lines, it appears that there may be a way to increase the Ram by using unsupported chips (the addressing supports 8 banks of up to 16Mb/bank) if suitable chips could be found to give 16Mb banks with 2 or 4 chips it may work.
