One thing I forgot to mention in my last post about SCSI disk mode...

One persons setup may not require termination on the end of the SCSI
chain while another setup might, even with the exact same computers.
This can be due to the length of the SCSI cable connecting the two (or
more) devices. Termination is for the purpose of putting an effective
load on the end of the chain. Otherwise the signal in the cable can
bounce from one end to the other and interfere with itself. But, if the
cable is short enough this may be little problem. Also if it's physical
length is a particular multiple/fraction of the wavelength of the
signal in the line then there may be no need for termination.

To put it another way, you may get by without terminating both ends of
a SCSI chain if cable lengths are just so, but it should always work to
terminate both ends. One problem that may seem to override this
statement comes when devices in the middle of the chain are unknowingly
terminated. In this case, impedances again become mismatched due to
termination in more places than just the two ends (source and load).

Also, it can work to terminate one end, and also somewhere in the
middle of the chain instead of the other end. But, this is only
possible because the cable lengths are arranged just right. Almost
impossible to calculate but trial and error my give workable results.
