Hi, >5300: External CD will not mount discs. CD unit is >Apple. Cord and CD unit tested on other units....all >runs fine, just not on that 5300 mentioned.
First : are you sure that you are using the right HDi30 cable (you need a HDi30 cable for that powerbook, right ?) : for SCSI disk mode you need the black one (with 30 pins) but for external devices you need either the grey one (with 29 pins) or a cable with a swith which allows you to use the SCSI disk mode and to plug external devices depending the position of the switch. If you have the right cable, then do you have all extensions needed ? I've got the French system and i don't know the exact translation of these extensions in English : here they are : - Lecteur de CD (Apple CD player) - Traducteur CD (CD translator) - Accès High Sierra (High Sierra Access) - Accès ISO 9660 (ISO 9660 Access) If that still doesn't work, try to remove or turn off any SCSI terminator on the external CD player. That's what i did to successfully plug a CD player on my pb 520. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
