Dear Ben: Have you tried zapping the PRAM and resetting the power manager? Unplug the AC cord, press the power key while holding down Command-Option-P-R, and keep them held down till you hear the startup chime. Do this at least twice. Then press the reset button (hold it in for a few seconds): the computer should start up. If it doesn't, try the reset button again, and if that doesn't work, try the keyboard power key. If none of this works, your problem lies elsewhere, but if it does, you should next choose Shut Down from the *menu* (don't use the power key) and plug in the power cord: if the computer stays shut down all is well, but if it powers on again immediately take out the battery, unplug the electric cord from *both* the PB and the wall outlet, and hold in the reset button for one minute. Plug the cord into the wall, then into the PB: if the power manager was indeed the source of the problem, it should now be fixed.
