I am suggesting that it is not the powerbook. As long as the other programs on the computer are working fine, it is probably a software issue. The most probable cause is a web browser that does not have all of the options Excite.com thinks you should (if they are using Flash or Java etc.). I would install a fairly new OS (9.1+) and then try to update your web browser if possible. If that doesn't work, try using a new browser, like Netscape. The problem you may run into is that the 1400cs isn't made to run today's browsers, which eat memory and resources, so you may experience some system lag.
