I use a new Kodak DX4330 which is great camera. Primarily it's plugged into my G4 using the Dock, but for my 3400 I bought a PC Card adaptor on ebay for 18 that takes everything except compact flash - those readers are even cheaper. Speed is about the same as USB and it works a treat. The files are straight JPEG's and I use JPEGView or Picture Viewer to view and Photoshop 6 to edit. Don't feel you have to buy an older camera just for the connectivity. A serial connection is hellishly slow anyway.
