>Does anyone here know if a 3400 Track Pad will fit a 5300cs? Yes, I know. ;-)
>Any chance they are the same unit? Thanks. They are not the same unit. The trackpad in the 3400 is clickable, the 5300's is not. However, the 3400 trackpad IS the same as that of the 190, which is swapable into the 5300. But before you get your hopes up, you won't be able to swap the 3400's trackpad into the 5300 directly. The 3400 and 5300 have different connecting cables. The only computer made that has the correct connecting cable to connect a clickable trackpad to the 5300 motherboard is the PowerBook 190. If you need a clickable trackpad, you must also find the cable from a 190. Only then can you install a clickable trackpad into the 5300. Speaking as someone who has made this modification (using a 190 trackpad), I highly recommend it. If you have a dead 190 lying around, by all means gut it and swap the trackpad into the 5300!
