I realize this question will probably be similar to comparing the speed
differences between two tortoise species at full gallop, but can someone
tell me if there is a noticeable video gain in having a Logic/Video Board
with a 512K passive display configuration or one with a 1 MB active display
configuration (VGA)?

Here's the situation. I now have a second 5300cs which was just returned
from Apple through the REA. But this one has the active display
configuration and 16 mb onboard ram vs the 8 of my user book.
Unfortunately, it also has the somewhat buzzy speaker.

So instead of fixing the speaker (Thanks Andrew for the heads up), I'll
instead just swap screens and hard drive onto the 16 mb ram machine. But
before performing this minor surgery, I need to know if there is anything in
the screen unit itself that would prevent the swap? IE, Is the
Active/passive Display capability only in the logic board or does the screen
(or its attached components) have anything to do with it?

Obviously having the extra 8 mb of ram would be a slight benefit.

Based on the REA paperwork alone, the screens would appear to be the same
10.4" Sharp but I want to make sure there are no hidden issues. Anybody
know?

Thanks,

Dave
