I'm pretty sure that the 180 requires a power supply of 6-7.5 VDC at 2.5A (or better). so any supply that meets those requirements will work in a pinch, inlcuding a car battery charger that can output 6V. This is for testing only I assume, as you don't want to run your PB on an unfiltered unregulated suplly for any length of time, trust me. If it powers up ok, then you may choose to go about acquiring a new battery, apps, internal modem etc and make it inot a productive machine. Let this list know, as many of us can help you to find software for this. If you get the Chimes of Death, it's hardly worth repairing it, however, the RAM board, internal modem, and HD are all valuable to Powerbook users, so please don't trash it without letting this list know. Someone may be willing to buy it off you for parts. Good luck with it; a 180 in good running order is a fine machine, suitable for WP, email, even CAD and small games. I do all these things on my old 145, it's just a matter of having the appropriate version of an app for the machine (the latest version isn't always the best version!). I believe you can drive a color external monitor from one too, with the right cable. And remember that there is help for you right here :) m -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
