Hi list, I've been using a PPC upgraded PowerBook 540c and a rev C card cage for a while now and I am very satisfied with the setup. I use it mostly for PCMCIA CompactFlash adapter for transferring digital pictures to the computer (the USB connection is not possible for obvious reasons). Furthermore, I've found out that when I use CF card exclusively (read and store documents there) network performance is greatly increased. For example - when copying a larger file from the CF to a local network volume I get quite high data transfer rate - over 400 KBytes/s! That means that the internal SCSI drive is slower than the CF card and I wouldn't mind using an 'always plugged in' CF card with capacity say 512 Mb as the main drive. But - since those are quite expensive a better option might be IBM's MicroDrive (not _just_ to remind of good old Sinclair QL times) which you can get on eBay for some $100-$200.
