I'm gonna guess here, but I'll bet you don't have a terminator between the 'Book and the 7600. Setup ideally should look like this: PB --- scsi adapter -- passthrough terminator -- cable -- 7600 Eh? While the speed was depressingly pokey when installing an OS via localtalk, it worked for my 5300 using the doctored 7.5.3 floppy. I mounted the desktop's shared HD, then using a copy of Disk Copy (also on the desktop's drive) I mounted an image file of the 8.6 install CD. Launched the 8.6 installer and went to bed, 'twas all done by morning.
