Also ask on the LEM Swap list. There are no options for USB on the 1400. (unfortunately) The USB cards all require a newer version PCMCIA than is available on the 1400.
On occasion a deal can be had, but 1400s are such good little machines that many horde their parts "just in case" they find another 1400. I'm up to 2 now, fully set up except they are "cs" versions. (I even have an original Apple Presentation System for each of them.) One day I'll find some "c" screens really cheap and the upgrading will be complete. (of course then I'll need some 1400s with bad screens so that the "cs" screens get used and then it will start all over again. But, honestly doc, I'm not addicted!!?)
