8.0 is too old. You want at least 8.1, and on a 2400 8.6 would be better,
but I personally prefer OS 9.1 myself if you have the RAM.

If you really *do* have OS 9.0 on the drive (probably 9.0.4) and decide
to stick with it, upgrade to 9.1 -- 9.0.4 has some stability issues, while
9.1 is nice and steady.
