YIKES! 8.1 on a PowerBook 190? Absolutely horrible combination. I had that on my 190 for a whole two days (just this past weekend actually) and dropped back down to 7.5.5 as soon as I could. That was aweful. The only thing 8.1 had over 7.5.5 was a slight increase in stability. However it felt really REALLY slow, and that probably is because it was. Speedometer constantly reported significantly lower scores in disk access time for 8.1 as opposed to 7.5.5 as well, and in fact the same thing happened on the Quadra 800. I first formatted the disk with an 8.0 startup disk and then installed the os. Slow access times. Then I formatted the disk with the 7.5.3 startup disk and yay quick access times. So then I installed 8.0 onto the 7.5.3 formatted disk, and the scores dropped way back down again. Installing the 8.1 update didnt help. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
