I've had the same thing, but when downgrading from 8.6 to 8.1. I would describe it as a rather sonorous tone, and it got quite loud. I'm sure Apple would frown on my remedy, but a good slam with a closed fist on the case over the hard drive solved the problem, and it hasn't repeated in months. My guess it was perhaps a mis-aligned hard-drive, and the shock from my blow knocked it back in place. I think I was lucky I didn't jack the PB all up, but it worked for me.
