I think what we're reading in that Apple document is typical of some 
poorly written material from many sources including Apple.  Apple's 
proliferation of misinformation is well known.  I suspect this is a 
case of a journalist writing up information from technical input 
without any understanding of the subject.  The capability to use a 
56Mb module may or may not be there.  The fact is no 56Mb module was 
ever produced or planned.  The writer just misinterpreted what they 
were given.  The only option was for a 32Mb module.  Do the 
math...the maximum installed RAM is 32, 36, 40, or 56 depending upon 
the soldered, on-board RAM.
