I read all of your posts to date and I can help you. I assume that since you are trying to connect to ethernet, you have a cable modem.
Connecting the PB to the internet: If at all possible, get a PCMCIA ethernet card. Other people can tell you which models would be best for your setup. Don't get a card that requires hardware/software hacks to work. Get one that works natively with MacOS. The other option is to use the LCII as a bridge. This is time-consuming, effort-intensive, and will make the LCII useless for doing anything else. However, it can be done for free. I set up my LCII as a bridge for some of my _really_ old macs that cannot have ethernet adapters. It is difficult, but possible. If you want to try this, email me and I will walk you through it. SCSI CD-ROM: Double check the termination settings on all the drives. Try turning all termination off on all drives. Make sure you have the CD-ROM driver in your extensions folder. Again, other people on the list can tell you what you exactly which extensions you need. Also, make sure the CD you are using to test works in another mac. Disclaimer: I have no personal experience with OS 8.6 or a PB 5300. -Eric J ===== PB145, iceBook Classic II(x2), Performa 405,IIci 6100/66 DOS Compatible, Blue and White G3 and random bits and pieces You are not drowning in old computer parts until you start charting tides... __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
