I've used LocalTalk Bridge (or the software formerly known as LaserWriter Bridge) extensively.

I'm betting that you are using the LocalTalk bridge to connect your 5300cs via a printer cable to some Ethernet equipped Mac and thence to the Internet.

Just guessing, but I bet you also aren't able to connect to the internet with that setup.

The reason you can't get to the internet is that LocalTalk bridge ONLY works with AppleTalk, not TCP/IP. Since the internet is TCP/IP only, you're stuck. However, it is possible to "encapsulate" TCP/IP traffic in AppleTalk traffic. That sort of network protocol is called MacIP.

So, to get online via LocalTalk bridge, you'd have a fairly complicated setup. I can help you put it together, but be warned that you will have to have another piece of software (a software based router like Vicom's Internet Gateway or Sustainable Softworks' IPNetRouter). Said software is not free. Unless you can get a copy of this software, you're going to be out of luck.

Write back if you want more help, or if I'm wrong in my presumption of what you want to do.

Peace,
Drew

(P.S. - Welcome to the list! I'm a proud owner of a 5300cs (currently doing duty as a software based router for my entire network), a 5300ce, a more-or-less dead Duo 230, a G3 (Wallstreet II/PDQ), and a mess of desktop Macs, some PCs, and two ANCIENT SPARCstations.)
