Many thx to Eric, Scott, KADagget for their input.
The intended receiver of my largesse has warned me of
his primitive technology and expensive Internet access
charges. Another source told me that .wav files are
very large.
With regards to audio work: my 3400 has only 80 MB
Ram, so you are limited to about 5 min, for a 20 MB
Ram file (then you must save to the HDD, etc.), so,
taking into account OS requirements, maybe about 15
min. to play with.
On my Beige DT with 768 MB Ram, the total recording
time (or time to transfer an audio data file from a
cassette deck) is more than enough (either Classic or
OSX)!
I should also mention the freebie audio SW available
out there (for starters, try Praat on your favourite
search engine).
Best
George
PS: Eric, any tide charts available? It's getting to
be a tidal wave around here!

=====
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with
all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You
shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and
the prophets. Matthew 22: 37-40
