I'm not sure if this is a problem or not since I'm new to Macs but here's the situation:
I just got a Powerbook with these specs: 117mhz 32 MB RAM 700+ MB Hard Drive Orinoco Silver Wireless Card Wavelan Driver ver. 6.3 (This appears to be the latest driver I can use with system 7.6.1) System 7.6.1 I have the Orinoco Silver card in the PC card slot and it works with my netgear router. I can get on the net with it BUT the card doesn't show up on the desktop. When I open AppleTalk the Wavelan entry doesn't show up in the "connect via" drop down list as the driver's documentation says it should. I have "ethernet" chosen for that entry. It also says "Current zone: no zone available." But as I said the connection works. My question is whether I can do something to make the card appear on the desktop and in the appletalk "connect via" list. Or doesn't that matter as long as it's working? I thought it might be possible that i would get optimum performance if wavelan showed up there. I should also mention that under the "Missing extensions" entry in the Control panels submenu of the apple menu it says that the pc card extension is missing. If I need that is there anyplace I can download it; the powerbook came without system disks or cd? Thanks for any help you can give, Frank -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
