Is there a way to leave everything plugged in somehow so that the little connector at the back of the computer doesn't have to be disconnected each time?
Thanks.

Plugging the adapter into a power strip, and using the switch on the power strip should work just fine.

I've never heard of your 'plug in the adapter, then the Mac' rule, and to be frank, the fire danger is quite remote indeed.

You're doing more damage to that power book unplugging it all the time, since the 5300's power receptacle is so fragile.
