I was surprised how much new batteries cost, and remembered that someone mentioned on
the list that rebuilding a battery is an option. I called my local Batteries Plus to
see if they carried the parts I needed to do this for my Powerbook 1400, but they said
they only had parts for rebuilding batteries for power tools, not laptops. I found
that a little hard to believe, but I haven't been able to find much info on rebuilding
Powerbook batteries on the net.

I did find this pretty good page showing how to rebuild a Duo battery:

http://www.fastlight.demon.co.uk/jg/duobatt.html

Looks relatively straightforward, and I can't imagine the 1400 is going to be much
different. I mean, heck, the worst I'm out is a battery that's already dead as a
doornail, right? Looks like I could follow a relatively similar plan there.

Anybody have any pointers on battery rebuilding?

Thanks,

Ruffin Bailey
