Hello all, I have a PB 3400/180 that I acquired about seven months ago. It's been a trooper, although I've had a couple of problems with speed. I wish I hadn't installed OS 8.6:(I don't have a copy of 7.6.1 to put on it). Otherwise, it's a good machine.
I began to find the ram a bit limiting though (32MB installed when I bought it), so I purchased a 64MB ram module from memoryx. When I got the module, I installed it and was ecstatic to see 80MB of ram at my disposal. Then I put the keyboard back on. When I restarted with the machine put back together, it only registered 48MB of ram:( Not what I had in mind! I played a bit and determined that it's not the ram module (I had problems getting the original 16MB module to work again, reasons explained momentarily). I found that any time ANY pressure whatsoever is placed on the module (even very slight), only half of it will register. With the original 16 MB module, it wasn't as sensitive, but none of it would register unless I had it seated just right. Since the 16MB module had problems being reinstalled, I'm venturing a guess that it's not the ram. I'm wondering if anyone has run across this before and can give advice.
