What vendors? Any cautions?
None of that, directly.

The RAM is 5v 70ns refresh, which sounds a lot like 5v FPM RAM. 5300 RAM has a custom design, however, so there are no "sticks" of 5300 RAM (it's more like a card or module than a stick). RAM sizes range from 8MB to 56MB. 56MB is extremely expensive, and it's only any good for people with only 8MB of RAM on the mobo (most 5300 owners, I suppose). There are no 64MB modules.

I have no idea of what a good asking price for new RAM is, but $224 at <http://www.ramjet.com/mac_laptops.asp> seems a little insane for 48MB. (That was the first link in Google for PowerBook 5300.)

Check out MemoryX at http://store.yahoo.com/memx/powerbook5300.html

There prices while not always the cheapest are usually among the lowest and they have carry memory for almost anything Apple.

You could probably have gotten most of this info from my 5300 FAQ at: <http://www.alksoft.com/5300_FAQ/FAQ_TOC.html>

On the 5300c's printer port "port juggler" is supposed to handle a printer and modem threw the printer port. Can anyone provide a report on its effectiveness?

Port Juggler IIRC is basically an electronic T-Switch. Switching between say a modem and printer automatically as each is accessed. But you can't use both simultaneously. It also won't do LocalTalk.

Better solution is to get a PC Card modem.

Huh? The 5300 has only 1 serial port, and being a serial port, it can only work with one device at a time. It cannot be split. You can install a switch-box, sure, but you are still only working with 1 device at a time. My advice: don't bother. Unless you are planning on being tied to a desk, it won't be worth it.

5. Suggestions on where to get good deals on 5 to 8 gig IDE? hard drives for these 2 5300c's?

eBay? Or try <http://www.pricewatch.com/>

Or Froogle <http://www.froogle.com>
