Hey gang,

just joined the list 'cos a friend just gave me a Powerbook 180 (8 MB RAM,
120 MB harddrive, running System 7.5.1). It's the first Powerbook I've ever
had, but I run a G4 w. OS X at work and used to have a performa 475 at home
many years ago (prices meant had to go Win after that, currently homebuilt
AMD based w. XP amongst others). Have a couple of questions I hope someone
can help me with-

I'd like to use this for some games (solitaire etc. for long journeys) email
& basic browsing, & so would like to hook it to my home network/dsl. I've
got a lead on an Asante Micro EN/SC- is that the right way to go to allow my
to hook it to my ethernet based network? Are there any hints or tricks to
get this working?

Took me a while to work out how to get any software onto this beast (so far
no network connection, other Mac has no floppy drive, this has no CD), but
think I've got that worked out using TransMac on my home PC to format &
write to Mac disks (huge whoops of joy & triumph when I managed to install
Stuffit Expander 5.5 late last night!). Where is a good source for software
that will run on this (games, apps etc. I stupidly chucked all the software
I had from the old Performa a couple of years ago), especially a mail app &
a browser. I know Netscape has archives of old versions- which would you
recommend (or which other) for this puppy? And again, any hints or tricks
would be gratefully received!

That should be enough to get me going- hope someone can help- I really think
this thing is cool & hope I can get it going!

Thanks in advance,

Cris Thorne
