The keyboard USB port is only for very low power devices such as mice, it
will not run external drives unless they have an external power supply, it
is also incapable of running many other USB powered devices such as scanners
and some web-cam's, you should use either a POWERED hub (DIRECT from the
Mac) or plug it into the main USB port on the Mac.
Ben.
NB one Apple document (I cannot remember which) hinted that the keyboard USB
socket was only for low speed devices, so you may have a big performance hit
if you used it for a powered HDD.
