Craig This was a design feature you can buy (still) clear or opaque covers for the 1400 - and I understand there was a range of paper inserts designed for the clear covers. AFIK the clip on/slide on plastic covers are still available as Apple spare Parts. I bought two charcoal ones a few months ago when my 1400 collection was started (purchased without covers) Regards Doug
